• These doors are designed to reduce air loss through the fireplace when the fire is dying or extinguished, and to minimize cold air infiltration from a down drafting chimney.  They are NOT “air tight” options such as a wood stove or fireplace insert.  Like any fireplace door, it is important that gasket doors be left OPEN while burning fires in order to avoid damage to door, frame and tempered glass.
